What is Acting Impact?

What do we do in class?

We begin each class with a series of warm-up exercises for the voice as well as for the body and the imagination. Then we introduce some improvisation activities using famous scenes from plays, films, and songs. Twice a year our students present their plays or sketches in front of a live audience in a Madrid theatre.

Acting Impact is a theatre company for adults based in the centre of Madrid for people who want to improve their English-speaking confidence. Since 2003, Harriet Thompson and Schuyler Hedstrom have been giving courses that help adults lose their fear of public speaking, improve their pronunciation and vocabulary, increase their ability to improvise, and learn theatrical techniques so they can perform on the stage like professional actors

Do I need previous theatre experience?

Previous theatre experience is unnecessary but most people have between a B1 - C2 level of English. Acting Impact students come from different backgrounds and countries. Attending class once a week in the evenings, students can take a break from their daily stress and routines.

We rent centrally located rehearsal spaces in Madrid. (Currently our classes take place near Plaza de España)

Harriet Thompson and Schuyler Hedstrom also give workshops for companies. These sessions help business professionals overcome their fear of public speaking, improve their pronunciation and become more comfortable conversing in English. Through dynamic theatre activities, participants will learn how to correctly project their voice in a conference, use confident body language during a presentation and combat anxiety when speaking to a group.

You can hire Acting Impact for a two-hour workshop, a day-long team-building event or weekly public speaking sessions. Previous clients include: Telefónica, IMDEA Materials Institute, Studio Gronda, Lyntia, Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) and DHL Logistics Services.
